My flock turned a year old in April. Over the past month my daily egg amounts hit rock bottom, some days I didn't get a single one (THAT didn't even happen over winter!) I figured out that it was because they weren't getting enough feed. I had started free ranging them and they refused to go back to the coop to eat (and no they weren't laying outside the nesting boxes). Now their feed gets placed outside everyday and although they still don't eat as much they do eat a normal amount and egg counts went up to 4 a day (I have 6 chickens). One day a few weeks ago I was outside almost all day and saw the girls going in and out, we saw 1 chicken go in and nest twice in one morning so I started paying more attention to her behavior. She's not laying AT ALL but spends a normal amount of time every single morning in the nesting boxes and then gives a small egg sound afterwards. I've been searching on and off for weeks and everything I was finding was about being egg bound, clearly she is not because she acts 110% normal. She's always been one of the best layers, she even laid all winter long even though I provided no extra lights.
