Chicken is Eggbound

I'm pulling for you! :fl:fl:fl:fl Hope it all works out for you and your hen!

Thanks sorry for the late reply. She seems considerably better now. She's pooping everyday but she seems to stay in some places for a long time. I think it might be a little hard for her to move but she can move when she really wants to or needs to. I'll be monitoring her closely for the next few weeks. Thanks for helping.

I would stop the calcium since it might make constipation worse. Try cooling a tsp of coconut oil in the fridge and chop up and offer it to her. That may soften her poop. It might be that she has some sort of reproductive infection, such as salpingitis or egg yolk peritonitis. Those can cause trouble walking, waddling, and preferring to sit or lie around. Symptoms can include poor appetite, tail held down and others. Here is some reading:

So, sorry for not updating. It turned out she had water belly. I drained some of it out, and it went away completely. I know it's going to refill in a while and i'll drain it again. Now she seems fine. Also the liquid was clear not yellow. I don't know if that's a good or bad sign.

If the color was clear, then she probably has a cystic right oviduct. That is a common defect in hens where the right oviduct which usually shrinks away in a hen, and becomes filled with clear colorless fluid. It is more common in chicks who have been exposed to infectious bronchitis virus. Usually hens only have one oviduct on the left side. Here is some information about it, along with a graphic necropsy of a hen with cystic right oviduct below:

Thanks for the information! I'm planning on draining some of the liquid every time it refills because she will be in pain. This will take a few months I hope. She's doing good now. She's moving around more.
