hi everyone,
I have used this website many times for my chickens and now am stuck. one of my chickens hasnt been herself. she doesnt walk around much and i usually find her laying on the ground. i cant tell if she is eating or not but i have seen her drinking. her tail is also drooping and it looks like she is slanted when she stands because her back and tail are slanting downwards.

about 6 months ago i noticed that she lost a section of the top of her beak but it has grown back except now the bottom part of her beak seems to have grown too long and i see drool coming out of it. im not sure if this is affecting her in a way where she is laying down constantly because of it but i dont know. she has just seem slugglish lately. also, she recently had mites and i was able to get rid of them but i still spray her with stuff for it. her poop is normal and everything besides her beak seems to be fine. she is also not egg bound because she hasnt laid an egg in a long time but she seems to be in the position of a chicken who is egg bound.

currently, all i can think of doing is deworming so i started giving her safe guard today.

does anyone know how to fix what is going on with her?
thank you!

How old is your hen? Can you post a picture? What do her droppings look like? I would bring her in to observe her and see what she will eat and drink. That way you can look for her droppings. Offer some wet chicken feed in a small bowl, and some bits of scrambled egg or tuna. It sounds like she could be suffering from a reproductive disorder. Does she walk okay or prefer to sit or lie down? Can you feel of her crop in the morning before she has any food or water, and tell us if it is empty or full, hard or puffy? Also note if her lower belly between the legs is enlarged.

thank you for your response!
she is someone where between 4-5 years old and i will try to take a picture tomorrow. she is my only chicken who sleeps in a nesting/egg laying box at night so i see her poop in the morning and it is normal. i have brought her inside before and offered bread and things like that but she really doesnt seem interested. i will bring her in tomorrow and offer her that though. it seems like she walks like there is something wrong with her leg, but its very settle and i dont think it is an injury. she does have a healing wound on the bottom of her foot but it is barely there and doesnt seem to be the cause of it. i felt her crop about three hours ago and i didnt feel much, barely anything in it. i did check for any enlargement between her legs and lower belly and didnt feel anything, i will check tomorrow just in case.

another thing is that the bottom of her beak might be getting in her way when she tries to eat or drink.

Make sure that you post pictures of her beak as well. I would remove her from the nest box in the morning, and offer her some moist feed mixed with some water in a taller sided bowl. Scrambled egg would be good as well. That should be easier to eat with a beak problem.

Ok so I have taken pictures of her beak and her but she wouldn’t really go as slanted as usual which is good. Her poop also looked a bit suspicious. Any ideas? Also it looks like she stepped on her poop but the color looks weird to me.

Can I do anything to fix it? And is there anything I can do for her beak?
