Almost two year old chicken for the past three months has been going through a hard molt. She has been acting relatively normal but secluded until today when I found her laying down by the drinker. She is not usually fond of me touching her yet she won't move and only opens her eyes on me. I have looked around and I can't find any definite answers. I don't see any parasites and I've looked through her feathers, her crop does not feel impacted, and she's not pushing out and panting like a chicken would when they're egg bound. If anyone knows what's happening, please help.
She appears to be very thin, I can see her keel bone. It's hard to say if this is the result of molt or if she has other things going on also. Some birds don't eat well during molt, but there may be more going on. Based on what I can see in the picture I don't think she's got very long. If you want to try I would get her hydrated first, see if that helps at all. In her weakened state you will likely need to tube warmed fluids into her if you want to try.
Do not try to force feed her until you have hydrated her.
