One of my chickens has not stood up on her legs for about a week. She is about 4 years old. When she tries to stand up she uses her wings to help her. She will stand and walk but only for a about 5 steps then sits back down. I have checked all my birds for mites ect and put mite powder down in the coop weekly when I clean then out. They have not long all been wormed.

Are her feet or legs swollen in any of her joints? Do her legs appear paralyzed or weak, or do they appear to sore or tender? Does she have a blister on her breast bone? Mycoplasma synoviae, viral arthritis, gout, and Mareks disease are some of the problems that can affect a chicken where they lie down a lot. Has there ever been any respiratory symptoms in the flock? Does she still lay eggs?

Her legs an joints dont apear to be swollen or tenter. I have felt all around her legs. Her legs are really weak. She is not laying.

Have you checked the bottom of feet/around toes for bumblefoot or any other injury? Using wings for balance is common with leg/foot problems. When she does walk,is she walking normal(upright legs straight) or legs bent low to ground?

When she does stand she is fairly up right. But uses wings to to push herself off floor and will only do a few steps. Her legs look fine and her feet. I will have a closer look at the bottoms or her feet and toes tomorrow in the day light.
