Chicken "itching" problem...

Hi,

I have six chickens and they are in a nice chicken house and it is clean. I also have clean bedding for them. My chickens have a problem with itching. I have dusted the place with Pyrethreum (garden and poultry dust) but they still itch and bite themselves. They have lost their feathers underneath and have stopped laying eggs.

What can I do...or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is it possible that they are just molting?

From the Chicken Glossary at the Learning Center...

Molt. The annual shedding and renewing of a bird's feathers.

my chickens are itchy too, but I haven't seen anything on them. Are mites viseable , or are they hard to see?
