Chicken Jail!

I brought a new hen home and my little piggy hen went after her like a pitbull dog lol. I was going to just let them sort it out but she would not let the new one out to even eat or drink, the very sight of her made piggy mad. I finally grabbed up piggy and put her in a small crate, set up a large wire crate in the coop, food water and shavings and now Piggy hen gets to spend the day in there. How long should I leave her in there? the other hen would not come out while piggy was loose, now she is hanging out with the rest of them no problem. When I had her seperated with chicken wire Piggy was reaching through and grabbing her any chance she got. I dont mind letting them sort it out but hey a hens gotta eat and it was getting a bit bloody.

I had to do that once. The bully was kept in the house in a dog crate for a week. She was much better behaved afterwards.

I agree a week in lock up should give her an attitude adjustment

I'm hoping you quarantined the new bird for 30 days before the introduction (to prevent disease transfer).

came from the same flock. all were raised together. been apart for 3 or 4 weeks.
