Hi, some of you checked out my thread of our Chicken " Jungle Jim" and thought ya might like to see it in use. Caught Penelope on her swing this morning when I got home form Firehouse. Shot a little video....check it out.

So do they fly up there? I've been surprised that my chickens haven't used the new higher perches I put up in their run (on the central post in pic below)--they prefer to roost in the VERY highest rafters of my very high coop (7 feet up) so I thought they'd like a little height outdoors. The top one on the post is only maybe 4 feet up, but they haven't been seen on it once!

Yes the fly up to the swing. they fly to the highest rost that is about 4 1/2 ' off the ground as well. some fly to lower roosts, then just jump up. all in all is very fun to watch. thanks for checking it out.

Everytime I make an improvement to our setup, my wife asks me if I'm done now. And I say yes. Then someone gives me another idea. So today after work, I suppose I'll make a chicken swing.

So what kind of wood is the swing, fireguy?

Do you worry about the chain? I have avoided using chain for things (use cable instead) for fear of chicken toes getting caught.
