So I came out to my aviary and I heard my Silkie chicken making a lot of noise, squawking and clucking loudly. I went in and fed everyone like every morning but she kept it up.
I sat down on the floor and she came over to me jumped into my lap and fluffed her feathers and settled in and calmed down. It was actually very cute.......I guess she just needed a hug.
Anyone else experienced this......

Spend as much time with them as possible. Over do it!
I will be doing a lot of things differently this time around with chicks. Since I'm getting them later when it's warmer, I can have them in a different room where I can have them out of the brooder with me.

And now that it's warmer outside, I am spending more time in the run with the chickens. They aren't lap chickens, and the only treat they will get on my lap for is bread, which is a rare treat. But plantains will be growing soon, and they LOVED those last year.

My chicks enjoy to climb on people... Their new brooder is big enough to sit inside so I can spend extra time with them. They love to snuggle abd get belly rubs.

I've also been working to train my white silkie to select a card from a spread on the table. When she gets the trick down she goes into my show. In the history of magicians there have been a few who worked with trained chickens on stage, they are really smart birds. And all this training leads to HUGS!!!
