Chicken keeps jerking its head.

My chicken was eating from my dogs food and my dog bit her or scared her and now she has her head set to one side, she can't walk properly and her head is jerking back and forth a bit. I really need a quick reply I don't know anything about chickens and I don't want to keep her alive if she's going to die slow.

No she isn't. I was suppose to get vitamin b for her tomorrow. I read a post saying i should give her sugar water. Could you explain why vitamins relate to this situation?

How often is the jerking? Is it slight or violent?

I had a hen who had a stroke at one point. Head jerking was constant and she couldn't sleep. Poor thing was exhausted, had to have the vet put her down as soon as possible. If there's a head injury, you could have a similar situation here. If she can't stop, she'll deteriorate very quickly due to lack of sleep.

A video of her movements may be helpful. Upload video to YouTube and provide a link or you can load to the BYC GALLERY.

She's suffered trauma apparently, so work on getting her through shock.
Sugar water (1tsp sugar to 1cup water) is good to give or if you have electrolytes those will be fine. See if she can drink on her own, if not, give her drops by syringe.

Neurological symptoms should be addressed by giving 400IU Vitamin E along with 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily. Give a bit of egg to help with the uptake of E.

Once she hydrated, offer wet mushy feed. Do continue to look her over for any signs of bruising (usually skin will turn green), abrasions, cuts, etc.

Keep up posted on how she's getting along.

thank you so much. no head jerking this morning and her neck is set right, she's doing way better. she can walk today but she barely does and she's still very quiet. She's not eating and she's having a little trouble drinking water on her own. Her head keeps turning to the left whenever she goes down to drink, I'm not sure how to put a video on here to show you. She's drinking sugar water right now and I'm getting vitamins for her today.
