My cochin bantam was sitting on about 15 eggs. about two weeks later we went in the pen to check on her and she had kicked out 8 eggs. im not sure if it was her or the rooster that she is in the pen with. she hasnt kicked out any eggs since then and is sitting on nine now. is this normal?
I have a pen of buff orpingtons, they have laid 19 eggs does anyone know when they normally start sitting on the eggs?

They will kick them out if they are too hot OR if they are dead.

Next time it happens, you could try marking them and then give them back to her.
IF she kicks the SAME eggs back out again, you will know that there is a problem with those eggs.
