I cracked open an egg today and it was already scrambled inside - the yoke was broken and most of it was mixed in with the majority of the egg white. I have 5 chickens - 3 barred rocks which have been laying for 8 month, and 2 brahmas for about a year and a half - don't know which one laid it. One of the barred rocks is very small and has been picked on by the other 2 (the brahmas are so sweet and get along with everyone). Could this be caused by stress in the one that is at the bottom of the pecking order, or maybe one of them is ill? Anyone have any ideas?

I asked the question, once, about chicken coop being
mixed together like yours are, do you ever get a different kind of chicken if you hatch any of the eggs

It sounds like you may have found an old egg. Over time the yolk and the whites both become thinner.. you may have noticed how fresh eggs seem thicker and if you fry them sunny side up have more of a "pop" over grocery store eggs which lay flatter in the pan. If the egg isn't harvested and refrigerated within a reasonable amount of time it will appear scrambled when cracked.

It's possible that maybe an egg got buried under the bedding for some period of time and was missed but it was one that I got out of the nesting bin that afternoon. I'll look out for that. Thanks
