Chicken laid something strange!

I have 4 chickens and one of them has laid something strange today. Has anyone any ideas what it is? Could it be a lash egg? It smells awful, I found it in the nest box.

Lash egg.

Looks like a "lash egg" which means she has an infection in the reproductive system. If you cut it open, it's a bundle of pus and reproductive system debris. In most cases the prognosis is not good, sorry to say. Start her on antibiotics immediately. Certain infections can be controlled or cured, stuff like salpingitis is mostly deadly. Since we don't know what it is broad spectrum antibiotics are a must.

There are a small number of cases where a hen will have a lash egg and then have no ill effects, hopefully it is one of those.

Is this a "lash" egg? I found it yesterday. Although my hens have 6 laying boxes, they all lay in the same box. How do I know which hen layed it? Thanks!

Looks like it, yes. Google lash egg and compare. You can also cut it open and take a pic.
