Chicken laws in Ormond Beach- Volusia County

I was wondering if anyone knew the chicken laws for Ormond Beach/Volusia County? I've been searching for a couple days now and cannot seem to find any specific information for my town. Owning chickens has been a dream of mine for a few years now- it would be heartbreaking if I got some and then found out I wasn't allowed to have them.

Hi! Thanks for responding! I am technically within the city limits, although I am surrounded by farm land that has cattle and horses ect.

If you're surrounded by lots with livestock, then you're probably just fine to have chickens. I've scoured the net, and can't find any info on Ormond Beach specifically. You can always contact city hall and ask to be sure

Will you post what you find out? I also live in OB and have been interested in having chickens. I looked in the city ordinances and couldn't tell if it was allowed or not. Thanks!

Well it looks as if I won't be "out of the coop" any time soon.. Ormond Beach does not allow backyard chickens
I'm sooooo sad!
Maybe one day I can be a BYC-er again.. Sigh!

Aww, sorry to hear that How far on the edge of town are you? I think there's actually quite a few people on here who have only two or three quiet bantam breed hens in their back yard that aren't allowed to have them, and they get along just fine....There might still be hope

I'd get the chicks anyway. My husband brought home 4 baby chicks 2 months ago without knowing any zoning laws. (We live in a suburb of Pittsburgh and found out it was allowed.) Talk to your next door neighbors and if they are OK do it. Fresh eggs are a selling point. The hens make so little noise, I can't hear them and they are right outside my bedroom window. But no roosters.

Coincidentally, We also live in Volusia County, unincorporated Ormond By The Sea about 5 short blocks to Ormond Beach. And we're bringing all our chickens, in chicken crates, down for the winter, we don't know the laws for Ormond by the Sea. Another thing, more and more townships around Pittsburgh are rewriting their laws to include backyard chickens (and bee keeping)
