Our chicken Logan is almost 2 years old, we got home from work yesterday and saw her bum was plucked and covered in blood. She had laid an egg with a little blood on it the morning before, that day she layed a very bloody egg, and another slightly bloody egg today. We took her to the vet last night but our normal vet wasn't able to see her, they did xrays and didn't see anything interesting (other then she passed a screw she had eaten several weeks ago) but prescribed her metacam (2kg dose SID) for the meantime. We won't be able to see our normal vet until Monday.

Several weeks ago Logan had a collapsed egg fuse to her soft tissue and had to have it surgically removed as well as some paper/grass she ate that got stuck in her crop.

Any advice? Should we be going to the emergency vet? Will she be okay until Monday?

Does she have a prolapsed vent?

How could they see a screw that was passed?
I am confused.

No prolapsed vent as far as I can tell. She had xrays done for her surgery several weeks ago which is how we found out she ate a screw. Her new xrays didn't show the screw so she must have passed it at some point in the past few weeks.

Oh ok...I understand now.
I wonder if the screw just recently passed and is what is causing the blood.

What surgery did she have?
