I have the same problem with eggs being laid from the roost. I have two golden sex links and several other breeds. they are all 18 wks give or take a day or two. I think its my sex links that are laying. Last Sunday there was a broken egg under one roost. on Wed. there was a good egg in a nest box. on Thur. another broken egg under the roost on the other side of the coop. on Sat. another good egg in the same nest box. then today another broken egg under the roost. So I'm thinking, one has it right and the other hasn't figured it out yet. I know they are young but I don't want to keep losing eggs.
I think this is what I'm going to try. I have a spot right next to the coop that I can make a real nice cage. I am going to take one of the girls and put her in the new cage every night until another egg is laid in the coop. if it is a good or broken egg I will at least know which girl is laying which egg.
Any thoughts or idea's?
