Chicken Laying wrong color egg?!

If you really want an Ameraucana, here is a link. On the left of the page are links to a list of breeders by name or by state. http://ameraucanabreedersclub.org/
Also good info on the standards for the Ameraucana breed.
The next link will take you to a site that has photos of the accepted colorings for Ameraucana's, anything else is an easter egger and easter eggers can lay brown eggs if they don't get the blue egg coloring gene.

ALMOST anything else is an easter egger. They don't have Lavender/self blue on that list. I don't think it's an accepted color yet but they're still true ameraucanas.

Lavender isn't an APA recognised variety in Ameraucana.
For some people if the APA doesn't recognise that variety in that breed then it isn't that breed.

My understanding is that lavender/self blue has been petitioned for as an accepted color, but has not yet been added. Last thing I read, a while ago, was there was hope it would be added this year.
