Chicken leash question

Hi all,

First, sorry if I posted in the wrong place.

Ok, so here is my question: I want to buy a chicken leash, but I'm very impatient so I don't want to buy it from Amazon. At TSC they have small dog harnesses, they look and feel exactly like the chicken ones. Would they work?? I'm going to TSC later to buy more chick feed so while I'm there, why not? So I just want to make sure they work. Please reply soon because I'm going to leave....

If it'll fit the chicken, sure. Just make sure it can be adjusted into the proportions you need.

I already have a leash, I'm getting a harness. Well, what do you think?? To take my chickens for walks!

You'll want to train gently and gradually instead of just cramming one into a leash and expecting it to tolerate that, but going on walks can be an enriching experience for a chicken. Just, please- if you take it out in public, bring a walking stick with you in case a dog goes for it. I'm not saying hurt a dog, I'm just saying be sure you can shove it away. Be ready to swipe your chicken up out of reach if you see a dog heading for you.
Also, don't take it to a feed store. Too much risk of disease transmission, both to and from your chicken. Very bad practice. A pet store is slightly less of a bad idea but probably still not great.
