dust chickens in a bag of diatomaceous earth. Also, if you look at the base of the feathers under their vent you will probably see white balls of tiny lumps. These are lice eggs. If you don't treat these then the lice will hatch from the eggs. I give them a generous coating of petroleum jelly to smother the eggs. In a few days the white balls will be brown or black and you can pull them off and discard them.
 
Buy liquid sevindust and use 1 teaspoon per gallon of water in a garden sprayer. Remove food and water and spray everything including your whole flock with a mist. Should definitely do the trick.
