Hi guys,
I'm a bit worried about one of my chickens. She was rejected from the flock at birth and has lived inside for the past seven years. This weekend, I noticed she was sitting on her pillow more often, and she would whine and cry if I put her in her bathtub (a bucket, where she also gets her feed). On Monday she took what looked like a bad jump out of the bucket and hit the ground.
Ever since then, she hasn't just been sitting on the pillow non-stop, but she limps a lot when she does move. There's a slight raised area near the top joint of her leg with what looks like a small black scab and some yellowed skin, but I don't know if that means anything.
She still eats and drinks normally (though beginning to eat less because I'm fussing and giving her too many treats), seems clear-headed and talkative and sometimes even starts purring when she's on the pillow. Her temperature also seems normal, as do her eyes & ears & droppings. In the evenings she suddenly wants to get up off the pillow and go up to her roost to sleep (she's quite determined, I'm trying to stop her from walking all those ramps by herself)
Is it a sprain and am I worrying too much by being afraid she got something bad, or should I be concerned?
