For the last couple of days, one of our bantam chickens has been limping on one leg. Her toes are curled under and she hobbles on the top of her foot when she walks. It is as though she cannot extend and spread her toes to step with the bottom of her foot. I do not see any injury to the foot or leg (although walking on the top of her foot is wearing it raw). She is about six months old
We have had many losses from Merak's within this group of birds. The breeder we bought them from vaccinated the chicks, but did not use a good vaccine. Her symptoms do not resemble the Merak's we observed in the other birds. Could this be Merak's anyway? Has anyone experienced something similar?
