Let me introduce myself. I've been involved with the Society for Preservation of Poultry Antiquities for many years. I served as publicity director from 2000-2008 and became historian in 2008. I've written two books about raising traditional poultry breeds in small flocks, How to Raise Chickens (2007) and How to Raise Poultry (2009).
I contribute regularly to Backyard Poultry magazine and other poultry publications. As SPPA historian, I have responsibility for the SPPA's collection of antique poultry books. They are an invaluable resource in researching poultry history.
Terry Golson, another poultry writer, has invited me to join her at two events coming up in Los Angeles. She will read from her book, Tillie Lays an Egg, http://www.terrygolson.com/books.htm, at the Palms Rancho Branch of the Los Angeles Public LIbrary on Thursday August 6 at 4 pm.
On Sunday August 9, she will host a West Coast HenCam Party at Chevalier's Books from 11 am - 1 pm. The HenCam is a live feed from her chicken coop, accessed through her site and linked from my site.
If you are in the area, please join us. These will be delightful occasions and opportunities for poultry people to flock together.
