By way of introduction, I thought folks might enjoy seeing the old (1860/1870'ish ?) lithograph we have hanging on our wall. I found it at a garage sale some years ago and despite the condition of the frame could not resist. The picture measures 18X30 and is titled "Shoo". While not quite as old as the picture, I bought my first batch of baby chicks (One of Murray McMurray's "rare breed specials") in either 1950 or 51, so as you can tell, I've been around a while.
In recent years our birds have all been either Buff Orpingtons or Rhodie Island Reds This winter all our girls have gone to the big stock pot in the sky so we can raise a batch of baby chicks while the last of our grandchildren are still young enough to enjoy them. We have not yet decided what breed to buy as replacements - who knows, I might just square the circle and order one

of McMurray's specials, (Sorry about the washed out photo)
