Hello!

Yesterday one of my chicken was sleeping in the yards standing up and I thought she was scared, she was fine so I picked her up and put her back in the coop. She barely fought when I went to pick her up and slept on the perch. This morning I go outside and she's laying down in the shade and when I come to get her because I thought she was dead, she barely moved. I took her to get some water, tried to get her to eat, but barely anything. My mom was worried because she was laying down and wouldn't move too much when we went to pick her up. I. Currently sitting down with her feeding her some sugar water with a bit of salt to see if that was the problem. What should I do? My chickens are 5 years old, white silkie bantam

Sorry to hear about your chicken. How is she today? It does sound like she might be feeling puny.

When did she lay her last egg? And have you felt her crop this morning? Is it flat?

I can feel her crop, it's still squishy this morning. I wanna say that it got smaller but only by a little bit. I don't know when she layed her last egg but I haven't seen any new ones around the coop lately so it can't be soon. At least today when I went to check on her in the coop she was slowly moving towards the door to go outside and I think she drank some water on her own. Any tips? Much appreciated!

Offer fluids and some mushy wet chicken feed plus a bit of egg up to her beak 2-3 times daily. Recheck her crop first thing in the am before she eats or drinks. She might be suffering from reproductive problems, common in older hens. Crop disorders may sometimes happen from the pressure inside the digestive system or infection. Have you ever seen any soft eggs or lash eggs? Make sure that others are not picking on her.

All of our eggs that we've gotten so far seems fine, I think I remember getting a seeing a squished soft egg in the coop before. Whenever I place her with the others they seem to walk away and she doesn't follow them. I'll start feeding her that, thank you!
