Hi all,
I don't know if my chicken (27 weeks old, not yet laying) is feeling unwell or not. This morning, I let my chickens out and she was the last one to come out. She also looked quite lethargic and would just shrink her neck back into her head and just stand/huddle there (it is getting pretty cold where I live). She would also close one eye. So I brought her into the house to warm up. I checked her crop, it didn't feel full and felt soft/squishy. She ate dried worms, egg yolk, and I tried to get her to drink some water. She seemed to be better and kept wanting to go out again so I let her out after a bit. But I did notice that her poop was like a dark chocolate jellybean with the consistency similar to wet earwax/tar(?)... She pooped twice within 5 mins. The first poop has 2 poop pieces with some watery liquid and the second poop has 1 poop piece.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions, I'd really appreciate it! 😭😭

Has she ever laid eggs yet? Her tail is lowered which means she is not feeling well or could have a reproductive disorder. Was the black dropping sticky? That is not normal although it could be really dark cecal poop if it was sticky and soft. What does she eat? I would try to get her eating some chicken feed with water added and a little scrambled egg, and post another picture of her droppings.

Thank you for replying and for your suggestions!! To answer, no she's never laid an egg yet (and neither have her flockmates who are all ~27 weeks old). As for the black dropping, it was indeed sticky and pretty soft. I've never seen cecal poop look like that before. She also had a watery white poop (like of like a bird/seagull poo). After staying inside for a bit, eating some egg yolk, and grower feed, she seemed a little better and her poops were normal (brown, white cap, šŸ’© shaped). She remained more lethargic and would often close her eye while standing. But other than that, she remained with the flock, foraged, ate, and did normal things. Really hoping it's nothing serious :(
