Ok so to start this off we have an owl problem even though there are plenty of chickens out and running around at night not far from us but they choose to target us so we recently got some lights to put on the bottom of our chicken coop but we have not put them up yet and our coop is above ground so we can move it the owls have been grabbing the hens necks from the bottom and killing them and our hens have plenty of places to roost even large feed bowls so they can sit in them but this morning I had to go to a hair appointment so my older sister did morning chores I forgot to tell her to check the big chickens but even if I did she probably wouldn’t have anyway I went out this evening to collect eggs and I see a dead hen and one sitting on the ground I was thinking maybe this one just lost a foot nope the owl ripped her whole leg off so I picked her up and put her in my horse trailer tack room with food and water don’t worry she has plenty of air as my tack room is well ventilated and the only place a owl can’t get to her I don’t expect her to live through the night but if she does we will closely monitor her and give her antibiotics but I am shocked she made all day without dying
