Chicken lover and bird veterinarian

Hi all,
My name is Laurie Hess, and I am a board-certified avian veterinarian in Westchester County, NY, where I own the Veterinary Center for Birds & Exotics (www.avianexoticsvet.com). I am a major bird lover (hence my job!) and a big fan of this site, as I think it provides excellent information to chicken owners on care, housing, feeding, etc. I am in the process of setting up a coop at my home and love the resources on this site. If your birds ever get sick and you need help, my animal hospital treats birds and other exotic pets exclusively (no dogs or cats) and sees backyard chickens every day. So please don't hesitate to call for help! Thank you all for caring so much about these great little birds!

Welcome! And how lovely that you chose a job that reflects your passion. It's very difficult to find an avian veterinarian (at least here in southern California), especially one devoted exclusively to birds, so you must be really appreciated in Westchester County! Good luck with your coop.

We have Dr. Pol in MI, and I'm sure there are more vets that treat birds, but thats the only one I know for sure lol.
