My name is Samantha and I am new to the chicken world
I have a two year old son and WONDERFUL husband taking this journey with me. We are the proud owners of 30 Rhode Island Red Chicks and 3 Roosters of another breed I am unsure of. I know.. BIG number for a starter flock! This was my husbands doing
He figured with it being our first "flock" we may loose a few in the "raising" process. Either way I have come to be VERY attached to them!
Our coop is still "under construction" but we are using an old metal storage shed. Some concerns with the heat in my area that we have to figure out but we are hopeful! Our babies are 16 days old and growinf fast! We had an issue with one rooster pasting up and not gaining as much weight as the others but once the pasting issue was cared for he seems to be doing GREAT!.
I was the girl telling my friends I wasnt going to get attached and name them
I DID NOT stick to that promise
My husband took one of the babies outside to "explore"
. My dog really enjoyed that and almost got away with her!
Fast acting and alot of TLC and she is fine.. I named her Suzi.. The one and only that I named and my husband PROMISED no harm will come to my little girl. I'm gonna tag her to be sure
