Awesome! I love that you were finding a new use for old coffee grounds, aside from a body scrub! I hope you can switch back. Did your chickens try to peck at it or did they see unphased?

They weren’t even as interested in it when I first put it down as they are with fluffy new pine shavings. One time I even dropped a completely full feed bucket and they ate most of the feed and left the coffee. I did research into its safety, and found one study where they fed coffee in small amounts to chickens to see if it could provide a benefit as a filler for feed, so presumably it is largely non-toxic. However caffeine can be toxic to some mammals, but most of the caffeine is removed from used coffee grounds. I felt it was safer overall than pine shavings.
