Hi everyone! My husband and I live in West Virginia, and have had chickens for almost a year now. We started with 6, and now we have 24, 6 of which are about three weeks, with another 14 on the way. (Silkies are the broodiest chickens I've ever seen!!!

We have 2 buff orpington roosters (which we are trying to rehome for free), two barred rocks, 1 black australorpe, 3 ISA's, 5 silkies, 1 polish crested, 1 partridge rock, 3 easter eggers, and 6 baby silkies.

We both grew up on farms, and decided that we missed having chickens around so we started with a few, and the flock grew-because who can pass up cute baby chicks?!
While my husband works (and builds the coops!) I stay at home and sew, keep our pet birds and dog happy, and spend time with the chickens.

I'm glad that I found this forum in a google search, as it's nice to meet people that love chickens as much as I do! Hope to see you around :)

Hello and welcome to BYC - thanks for joining us.

This is a useful link of BYC guides to take a look at announcements-feedback-issues-guides.3 I’d suggest including your location using the guide in the link. You can use this link to contact members in your area - Find your State's thread.

Best wishes

Welcome Ginnylouwho to the BYC! Yes life without chickens is just not the same. Once you have them in your yard, it brings life to your yard. I can only tell you that once you have them.... watch for chickenaddition!! Some call it chicken math... however it's not really that... it's chickenaddition! or you could call it chickenaddiction!:wee
