(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I have had chickens my whole life, my mother loved animals. I first got serious about having them myself in 2018.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Close to 40-50
(3) What breeds do you have?
A little of this and that.
Cochins, silkies, Easter egger, game hens, hyline, polish, serama and then mixed breeds.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I love chickens and their behaviors. I incubate and hatch so when I raise them they are friendly. I enjoy their company.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Reading, painting, and gardening!
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I recently had a little boy on 11/12/20 named Theodore. My husband and I love animals. We have 11 cats, 2 dogs, 5 rabbits, 4 peacocks, and many chickens. Had goats but recently parted ways with them.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
Google searches!Over a year or so, joined to get help sexing peacocks but could also use help when chickens get sick and coop management.
