I scaled my flock down to just two of my two older hens, bantam Cochins, due to some health problems last year. I just got six baby chicks this year, and popped them under the hen who had gone broody. She took to them right away and has been a great mom. The chicks are about two weeks old now. My other hen has seemed a little lonely, and despite being very bossy has not been aggressive to the chicks. When I checked on them tonight, I found that she "adopted" three of the chicks! She's happily tucking them under her. I didn't know they would do that. I love my girls!
