Most of us have learned the hard way about predators, and building that 'Ft. Knox' coop that's necessary to protect our flocks, especially at night when they are so vulnerable. Mine is now solid, u8ntil the bears move into our area. Then I'll have to add electric around it. Mary It's not stained/ painted yet, and for winter I wrapped the lower six feet in plastic to block the wind.

Very nice coop! I fixed up an existing barn, but I am thinking of adding a standalone coop someday soon.

So many scary stories! I didn't even think about owls (or hawks or eagles). I have three owls that roost in my yard, it will be good to keep that in mind. Kind of funny that the chickens were talking with the owl though!
