Chicken Math got to me.

So chicken math got to me lol. We went to our local feed store and got four chicken and 2 ducks they are doing great but I did have a question if we are free ranging and letting them out in the pen all day and having them in the coop freely until night the do we still need the 4sq ft per chicken/duck
in the coop? Well anyway welcome the two ducks Quackles and Waddles and the Chicks are Red, Hen Solo, Hero Jas, Baby Yoda. Sadly we don’t know if Baby Yoda will make it for she is very droopy, sleepy like I have been giving her sugar water and grinder feed into water paste and she is drinking that down. Her plumbing is working. So I am hoping with a few days of TLC she will make it. We get five more in April.

Coop space still matters, doesn't matter if you free range. Free ranging just removes the run space requirements.

We made it as big as we can we are at our max at what our city will allow us to have.

Sadly we lost her couples days after bringing her home. We tried everything but sadly did not make it. No blood in her poop

we aren’t sure we think she had a rough time before we got her. This is our first year having them but other family members have had chickens for years and said sometimes it just happens.
