Update: so this week I found out that our local Fleet Farm is selling chicks this year.
I texted my husband showing the cute little things…
Turns out he KNEW about them and didn’t TELL me!!!
So to punish him I let him think that I was bringing some home. (Even though I didn’t at the time….I’m still thinking about it, haven’t ruled it completely out yet…)

Oh my gosh! That’s hilarious; right up my alley. Last time I picked up a stray dog he made me take it back.!! But it was only because of the chickens. he’s more rational than me.

20 birds last year. 38 this year with 12 more yet to hatch.

Incubated these 8

Then broody 1 with her 5

Then broody 2 with her 5

Then shipped these in for broody 3....

It's never only (what ever the amount).

I'm living proof of it. (If you really need an outsider to prove this to you) My flock started at 8; now I have over 55.

Our flock started with 13...fell to 8, back to 13...12...then over night (quite literally, thanks TSC lol) somehow shot up to 39...and I haven't even got the ones I truly wanted in the first place...so that number is due to change soon again...but for now we have 5 roos in 5 different runs...oh my goodness...We only started our chicken adventure a little over a year ago! I'm feeling the weight of this chicken math...especially in 95°+ weather...ugh.
