Chicken math

Nature is interfering with my chicken math. I was going to get some silkie eggs. Of course I would need to get the max my broody could cover since some might not hatch. But the person I was going to get some from has too many broodies herself right now. she does have chicks hatching next week so I'm going to get some chicks. If I get more than 4 I'm sure DH will croak and I won't have the excuse that I didn't expect so many to hatch. Maybe another hen will go broody.

It's only chicken math if you really were only going to 'look'. There is a neurological reaction between something chickens put off and some receptors in our brains that messes with areas of the brain involved in decision making abilities in the presence of chickens and/or chicken paraphernalia. The result is chicken math--if coming home with 4 chicks was a realistic possibility when you left, then this isn't really chicken math. I tend to err on the side of caution--looks to me like this is a clinically diagnosable case. The prognosis is good, but you have chicken math.

I already had 9 chickens. Went to the feed store and saw the cutest little chicks. I bought two. I come home and found out they were roos (black sex links with white on their head). Then I went back and bought 4 more chicks. One died and then I went back and bought two more to make up for the one that died. Now how many chickens do I have? lol I'm not counting.

Lol!!! I think I count 16.

I have it figured out. I decided that I'd only count the ones I can physically see in the same place. So not my fault if half of them are in the run and the other half in the coop and I happen to be in the coop when I'm counting........
