Lol. The DW ISN'T here. My chicken/goose pen is growing by leaps and bounds

I started out with 4 EE's and 2 PR's. All should have been pullets but I ended up with 1 PR roo. They are all now about 18 wks old.
After they were old enough to go outside, I started to get empty brooder sickness....and Meyer hatchery is only an hour away....so....welcome home 4 random straight run bantams. They were SO cute and little and they won't take up much room, right!? Now up to 10 total chickens.
Well, they turned out to be 1 EEB roo, 2 mottled Cochin Bantam roos, and 1 white fluffy beautiful silkie pullet. As I already have my PR roo that I have now completely become attached to, the 3 bantam roos are eventually going to become little roasted mouthfuls of goodness.
That leaves me with 6 hens and 1 roo. As I was willing to house, feed and love 10 and am now down to 7, it is completely understandable that I should want to replace the 3 mouthfuls of goodness...right ?!
I have an order placed for pickup on July 7th for 1 BLR wyandotte, 1 GL wyandotte, 1 SS, and 1 Welsummer, all pullet LF.
Will be up to 11 total. *sigh* I just wanted some yummy eggs. LOL

I would be in so much trouble if they were that close to me.

You will get eggies. Patience is a virtue lol. I would sell the little roos. There is not much meat on them there little fellers. That could fund another trip to Meyer.

I am a hour and a half from meyer. I think it's just far enough to not stop in weekly to see the bins, but close enough that I can drive to pick up my babies. I just got more Monday. Already looking on the site to see what is available though. Need another coop so I don't squish them like sardines in my tractor....

Hehe, how many chicks do you think will fit comfortably in my new brooder-box? For reference, there are 9 little balls of fluff in there now.

I have a feeling this will be me lol. Fortunately, we're already planning on a big coop (that will be split in half...each side with a run).....and a little coop and run so I can have silkies. We're raising for eggs and meat, and I told my fiance I need little fuzzballs so I can at least freely get attached to some of them lol. At least he has come to understand that I'm a sucker and get attached to animals quickly lol.

When I first came to this forum, I was thinking, how hard is it to get chickens and do simple math? I started out wanting to get 6 chickens, 3 rir's and 3 bo's, which I am still waiting to pick up next Fri. So then I found a guy down the road from me that has some barred rock's and some wyandonette's. I only wanted 6, mind you, but now it's looking more like 10-12 of them, and I havent even got started yet. If it's this hard to just get started, I can imagine how it would be for most of you that are already raising them. I will say that 12 will be my definite limit.....so far.

I originally only wanted 6. Then I ordered in February from a hatchet and the minimum order was 15. 6 went to 15 before I even had them. Then i decided I did want a rooster after a couple months so now we are up to 16. So I'm at +10 from my original plan. In the spring next year I'm sure it will happen again.

Ideal has a $15 minimum order....so that may be an easier way to keep numbers down lol

My daughter let the chicken news slip. My wife DIDN'T know about the chickens. SHE TOOK MY DEBIT CARD AWAY!!! Im still in the "chicken house"

Oh crap. I think you may have bottomed out on the only known cure to chicken math.
