Chicken math

No bears here.lol. southeast texas.
That you know of......

Bears don't respect borders, much.

It was not all that many years ago that our state Game and Parks Commission was denying that there were any mountain lions in the state, and sayin anyone that claimed to have seen one to be either mistaken or telling tales ...... until enough photographic evidence was collected to prove it..... now they have been seen everywhere in the state .....

I did find one track. It had pads like a dog except a little elongated. Not a coon. About 2 to 2-1/2 inch print. the manner of attack seemed calculated, very methodical.Ive had dogs, coons, possums, hawks and owls over the years. I have never seen this type of attack. Told the guys at work it was the gub mint. Chickens were eating the insect drones so they took them out with a hit squad.

Just a pad print? No sign of claws? If it was heavy enough to make a pad print and not leave any sign of claws as in non-retractable, my first thought would be something of the feline variety and the size may says to me that it could be a bobcat. Is that 2 to 2/1/2" front to back or across.
Bah, just saw the post about the damage. Breast gone definitely reeks of fox more than coyote. Either one of those would have to be pretty fair sized to leave a large print though. Crafty devils both species.

I got a 7am phone call from the post office announcing my 20 babies are here!

Funny thing, for the first time, I can't tell who is who for a bunch of them. I guess I will have to wait for the feathering.

Just some random photos:
