I know I've seen that shirt posted here before too am I want it really bad! Lol

I've been working on some subtraction and some addition around here. We're still processing spare cockerals and I can't wait for March! We will be getting 15+ heritage Buckeyes and feed store chicks in March plus setting eggs for the Easter hatchalong. I may even buy some eggs to set with or after the Easter hatchalong.

Hoping to add true Ameraucanas, some EE, blrw, the Buckeyes, and a few other miscellaneous birds too..I also am looking to add more CL to our little flock of legbars. Plus I just found a breeder of blue double laced banevelders and I'm dieing for some of those.

I think I'd kill for an empty coop and barn lol. Okay not kill but man that sure would come in handy. We're going to be pressed for space this year until final breeding decisions are made.

Plus after doing the math we have 42+ laying hens and pullets and I didn't count some of the younger pullets. Lol

We also have approximately 30 cockerals and roos right now but most of them will go to freezer camp.

We have 8 quail eggs due to hatch this weekend and Wednesday have 7 bantam eggs due. We also set another 10 quail eggs on the 20th.

We do still have a coop build we've been working on that I hope to finish eventually as it's only in our spare time. And another coop to move from an uncle's place. That will help us with breeding and grow outs.

Well now that breeding season is in full swing and I have more breeds (who have finally started to lay), it's time to go out and build more breeding pens. You know what that means...once I move my breeds to their pens, the main coop will have more open space again...

Lol yup!

I keep looking at the empty back 1/2 acre of our property and thinking it really needs something (aka a crap load of coops and runs) to fill it in. It just looks so empty and lonely.

I'm not sure my husband would agree (actually, I know 100% that he wouldn't!)

Lol, it definitely needs lots of coops!

My husband has no idea that I was working on the breeding pens. We started them last summer but ran out of money, time, and ideas. Not to mention, he has no interest in having more pens set up. Well I got a brilliant idea for how I want them this morning and did some work once he left for work lol. I'm out of materials so I have to stop the covert construction for now. I wonder how long it'll take before he notices lol

Lol you guys are bad! I love it! Hahahahhaha special forces chickens!

Fortunately the buckeyes we're getting this year are his chickens so he can't be too angry of we add more this year. He did try to convince me that the only birds we'll need are the Buckeyes and we could get rid of all the others. Ha! As if.

Lucky for him he was mostly joking.

I have 10 chickens- 9 hens getting 7 eggs a day now! Unfortunately the chaotic weather makes the heat in the house to variable to run my incubator- I tried!

Hubby is thinking I am crazy for wanting more birds- but my Rooster is very cross beaked- so we need a new one! And you can't just raise ONE chick, plus I want some white eggs and some chocolate eggs, and some olive eggs to add to my egg basket! Coons/foxes got all my Buff Orps and GLW which were my favorites last Fall so I need to replace them. I can easily double the birds in the size coop we have!

So umm I need 2-3 Austra whites, 2-3 Buff Orps, 2-3 GLW, 2 olive eggers, 2 marans, and a rooster!

OH NO!!!
I just realized I only have one white layer and one green/blue layer!! All the chicks I am getting are brown layers!! I am having my broody raise them and she is a tiny bantam. I don't want to hand her to many to raise. Oh I do hope the brahma go broody for me. They have big fluffy bottoms and could care for ten each easily!
