That's good to know about the green skin - I would have been very alarmed!
Took ZsaZsa, my 5-week-old chick to vet this afternoon for dog incident this a.m. Wound was both better and worse than I'd feared - no internal damage but more skin taken off than I'd thought. Vet sutured (about 12 stitches!) and she'll need antibiotic shots twice a day for 7 days. He said the biggest danger is infection but she'll probably be okay because she's young, healthy and growing. Guess it's harder on older chickens.
Was actually starting the first of many training sessions to introduce the dog to the chicks but obviously it went awry. The chicken fence is going up this weekend. They'll still be free range - just not quite as "free" as I'd hoped.
