This hen, Honey, has had an URI before and was treated by the Vet. Just recently she started this meowing thing and has become very lethargic. She’s been eating and drinking normally. We just started her on some VetRx and separated her from the rest of the flock. Any ideas on what’s going on with her?

Welcome To BYC!

Where are you located in the world?
When was she treated by the Vet and what did the vet give her (medication/dosing)?
Did the vet perform a fecal float?

It looks to me like she is still suffering from respiratory disease. Did the vet "name" the disease? Infectious Bronchitis, Mycoplasma and ILT are a few of the more common diseases chickens can have.

How old is she? Does she lay eggs? Have you noticed if she has any fluid or swelling in the abdomen? How does her crop feel? What does her poop look like?

If it's possible, contact your vet again and tell them she is declining. Depending on what she was treated with, she may need a different antibiotic/treatment.

It would be worth looking inside her beak to make sure there are no lesions, plaques or evidence of Canker too (white/yellow cheesy patches).

Thanks! Sadly Honey passed away even with medication. We life in Central Texas. The Vet did not give us or specific diagnosis or run any test. She gave her a pink antibiotic but it wasn’t enough. We have deep cleaned our coop and the separate cage that Honey was in. Praying that the other birds stay healthy. Thanks for your help!

I'm sorry to hear that.
Thank you for the update.
