My 3 year old red sexlink chicken was up and adams just a day ago and today she is lethargic and will not move. Any attempt to move her was met with her not being able to stand and complete failure of movement. I think she may be egg bound but I tried checking and couldn’t properly tell, she also has these rashes on her underside of belly. Any information or help is greatly appreciated.

Has your hen laid any shell-less or thin shell eggs lately? If so, it's more evidence she might be egg bound.

Is her vent pulsating hard? If you place a hand against her vent (gloved) and push, does she try to squat and poop? If you believe she is egg bound, give her a calcium tablet to encourage contractions to expel the blockage. This is what I recommend.

The breast corrosion may be from sleeping on a perch too rough or too small. Or she may be sleeping on the floor. These can wear blisters on the breast. Use coconut oil on it to help heal it, but do check on the roosting perches to be sure they are adequate size.

Thank you so much! We have plenty of places for them to perch but the majority of my flock (8 out of 12) love to roost together on top an old shopping cart they had since they were chicks. I do, of course, have much better adequate places for them to roost but only a few show interest… I do hope the calcium helps and I will be trying it! Thank you!
