Chicken mutilated by goose

Reading though I would fear he may turn on the next male
Could you keep him in a separate crate or pen inside the coop
This would make sure everyone is safe at night
I agree with others that confined areas make it hard for the one attacked to get away
@Miss Lydia had her goose loose her mate and when the ducks especially one who got to close got her face chewed at by the goose
It took awhile and separating but still seeing one another till things calmed down
Of course it’s always best with geese to have a pair but without knowing what sex you have makes that a big hard
But they can live just fine without as well

I would separate the goose but keep him or her where she can see the others. I used a piece of lattice and made a door so my ducks and chickens could be in the front room of the coop my goose had the back room. They were all together on half acre fenced during the day but her mate died during breeding season so she was full of hormones and would do fine as long as she wasn't confined with the ducks and chickens during the night. Once she began to molt in June she got run of the whole coop. She chewed my little Runners[female] face up pretty good . She healed fine.

So sorry for the loss of your cockerel.

My geese killed a few chickens and would go after my muscovy. Geese seems fine with other poultry until they aren't. I make sure the other birds can get away from the geese, but occasionally one will get cornered. It seems worse in spring. Sorry about your rooster.

Thank you for all the responses everyone. I’ll try to separate her at night-she’s perfectly fine during the day. I have a very large run with trees and straw bales. Every one has space and can run away if Tater gets bossy. The only problem is night. My actual coop is fairly small. I’ve had nothing to do and the past two nights the goose has been fine but she snapped at the call drake yesterday. I’m particularly worried about him. The goose loves all my female ducks. The drake is the odd one out.

I think that’s the best idea
That way you won’t be so stressed
Im
Leaning towards a male as aggression is only towards other males
