I actually have a book on this it’s called chicken fact or chicken poop. It basically shows lots of myths and says if they are true or false. It’s an interesting read!

Well my first rooster was aggressive because we had lots of young roosters with him and he did end up going to a new home.. his name was cooper.

Cool! 😍

Myth/rumor: Round eggs hatch pullets.
Story: I have no idea where this idea originated.
True or false: true in my experience.
Evidence: when I regularly hatched out chicks I set round eggs and the batch was only (at most) 1/8 cockerels. There was definitely more than one variable so I really can't say for sure wether it's true or false. Lots of people swear by it though.
I heard that.
Not true.
Shape of egg has no influence on gender.
I hatched out 10 perfectly round eggs, got 5 hens & 5 roosters.

Myth/Rumor: Easter Eggers (EEs) Lay Purple Eggs.
Story: Many Hatcheries say that EEs lay blue, green, pink, and "purple" eggs. I think they say that hoping to help sell the breed, but anyone who knows EEs, knows what they lay. Plus, the "purple" adds to the "Easter" Egger concept.
True or False: False
Evidence: I've owned plenty of EEs over the years. I've seen blue, green and pink (rare and is light pink to tan) eggs, but have never seen a purple egg laid by an EE yet.
One of my Marans lays an egg with a slight purple or Lavender hue...as compared sitting next to other 'usual' color eggs...& I'm not sure why, it's not as if she's eating anything different, they all have the same diet, but everyone notices the pinkish/purplish/violet/lavender eggs my funny girl lays. 😆

Crap, I can't find the spring & summer egg photos where all eggs are darker & richer in color...well, I will have to take more pics this spring. I guess this looks more pinkish than purplish.

I get those occasionally, but there is really no such thing as a purple egg.
