Chicken newbie here

Hello my name is a Sue. I have 12 chickens that I got when they were chicks. I have a question. They are about 3 mo old. When do I start feeding later food and should I start with crumbles? Thanks

The crumbles all depends on your breed of chick. I've only dealt with bantams and they always get crumbles. Fuller size hens will take the pellets but I'm not exactly sure at what age you start that. I'm sure someone on here will help you out with that! Best of luck!

I switch to egg maker crumbles about the same time the egg laying process begins.

Feeding chick mash until laying is perfectly fine, as is switching to all-flock or growers feed. Crumbles or pellets is your choice.

Young chicks can be started on grower feed. Layer feed has more calcium for when they are starting to lay eggs. Young chicks and roosters shouldn't get the layer feed, the extra calcium isn't good for them.

They are only three months so I bought crumbles and when they are done with that I will give pellets but the crumbles are not much different than the regular food they have been eating. Not really any bigger lol. Ty
