HI, I'm Kim. I am not yet a chicken mama yet, but am in the planning stages of coop-building, deciding on how many chickens we want, location in the yard for them, etc. I don't know a lot about them, but I know I want them! We mostly want egg-layer-slash-pets. I have 2 young grandsons who live with me and I promised them 3 years ago when we moved to the country we would get chickens and they could help take care of them. I'm looking forward to learning all I can from all you way-more-experienced people than me!

Hello, Kim, and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.
Where are you located? That will make an impact on the type of coop and run you should build.
I live in the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. We have a couple acres, and are planning on putting in fruit trees and a garden next year. We want to add the chickens in the spring as well.
