Hi all, my name is Cat! My family and I are new to owning chickens and would like to learn as much as we can from all of you!

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We are brand new to owning chicks, and acquired our chicks approximately 4 weeks ago.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
We have 2 chicks currently, although I would like 2 more in the near future.

(3) What breeds do you have?
Both of our chicks right now are Rhode Island Reds.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
A friend of mine that also owns chickens suggested this site to us.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We own a local transportation company, so our time is very limited. We enjoy teaching our children the importance of living off the land, so we started with a garden, both our girls have a bb gun and targets for practice, and now we're venturing on with chickens!

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

My husband Michael and I got married on Halloween in 2015. We have 2 young girls Sophia, and Sabrina, and share our house with 2 cats - O'Malley and Halloween. Our chicks names are Sweet and Sour!

Welcome! :yesss: We are glad you joined our flock!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
