Chicken newbie

WELCOME! Sorry for the loss. It's hard when we lose a baby. Shipping is so hard on them. Not sure if you have them on a different brooder now. May seem strange that the may need heat in the summer, but if your home is cool...they need a light for warmth. Maybe you have one. I always just used a light bulb, no need for a big heat lamp. I started mine out. .. from a hatch..with a 100 W...then down to a 60 within a few days. They will let you know if they are too warm, or not warm enough by how they are around that light. Are they all huddling right under it? They're chilly. Staying away completely? Too warm. Staying around the edges.. sometimes stretched out? Happy campers. :).

and say hello to all my new “chicken” friends. We ordered 10 colored egg production assorted chicks from Hoover and we lost two , one of which was my son’s fav. Could anyone out there tell me if this is a welsummer or americauna chick? I promised him a replacement later.
