In the Brooder
Hello all,
I live in upstate NY and after years and years of wanting chickens finally have my own little flock: 6 Americaunas and 6 ISA Browns that we have raised from cute balls of fluff, to having our first egg today
.
We’ve been able to figure out most things out our own with some research here and there but I am curious about how soon after the first egg will the others start to lay? The Americaunas were all from the same group and the ISA Browns were hatched sometime around the first week of April. I’m assuming the Americaunas will all start fairly close together, correct?
My other question is, will these girls eventually learn to lay in the coop? I’ve put dummy eggs in their nesting boxes and our first layer started in there (I probably disturbed her too much with my excitement) then moved outside and laid the egg right in the yard.
