Hello!
My name is Jen. Our family just got our first chickens on Saturday. They are all 3 weeks old. We have 11 all together: 3 Ameraucanas, 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Leghorns, and 2 Bantams. Their names are Buffalo, Lily, River Song, Kevin (not a boy, but named by one), Freddy (not a boy, but named by one), Cajun, Breesy, Foghorn, Nugget, Cutie, and Dumpling. Over the weekend, we started building their coop and have the frame completely done. I've been reading the Backyard Chickens forum for a while as I've been reading up on chickens to prepare for this exciting adventure, but I decided to actually sign up once we got our girls.

I'm currently in school studying Family and Child Development. My husband and I have 3 children ages 11, 7, and (almost) 6. We also have 2 dogs, a miniature beagle and a plott hound. Other than chickens, my hobbies and interests include reading, fitness and nutrition, Saints football (I don't follow other NFL teams too much), television and movies (sci-fi, BBC, Walking Dead, Breaking Bad, New Girl, OITNB), hiking, and gardening.

Hello there and welcome to BYC!

Sounds like you have a lovely flock! A nice variety of breeds too.

Make yourself at home here and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Welcome to our flock!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I love the names you've given your chickens. My granddaughter names our hens after Disney princesses. I have trouble remembering which hen is which princess.) Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.

Well you really keep yourself busy - have you had the time to discover "chicken tv," . Chickens are so entertaining most people can sit and watch them for hours. No reruns, no cable bill - a new show every time. Welcome to BYC, glad you joined the flock.
